Back in the day, we were taught to grease our scalp. Nobody taught us anything different. It was cultural. It was passed down. And if you’re being honest, it felt good — the massage, the care, the intimacy of sitting between your big mama’s legs while somebody loved on your head.
But here’s what we know now:
Grease coats.
Water restores.
A lot of the tightness, stiffness, flakes, and itchiness so many of us deal with today started with that misunderstanding. We weren’t wrong — we just weren’t informed.
And tonight’s truth is simple and powerful:
Clean scalp equals growth.
Not buildup. Not coating. Not layers.
Because a dirty or coated scalp cannot fully support thriving Sisterlocks. When the scalp is coated, the follicles don’t have room to breathe, and your hair can’t respond the way it’s designed to respond.

Let’s define buildup the real way.
